Travelites 1st 2013 Oyster Roast
Return to DiscussionsWith temperatures not being chilly, we are looking forward to the first Oyster Roast of 2013.Join
friends from GA and both Carolinas on Jan. 26 in Ridgeway, SC for
succulent oysters plus Pasta Alfredo for those who prefer to not eat
seafood as well as dishes and desserts attendees will be bringing.
So far I've received $9 from one person who will be enjoying oysters
along with the other foods. If you can, please payPal me the $ but
please do not use a credit or debit card as they charge us 3%. If you'd
prefer to mail a check, please make it out to Travelites and mail to PO
Box 91048, Columbia, SC 29290 (note new POB).
The Oyster Roast was a lot of fun. Folk from the SC Midlands as well as the upstate, NC & GA gathered to devour a bushel of oysters as well as spaghetti (whole wheat) and Alfredo sauce, steamed broccoli and asparagus, salad, brownies, pound cake, turtle tracks ice cream and a cadre of snacks. The hot tub alas, did not melt away the calories.
Several members received Recognition in Appreciation Travelites certificates for going Above and Beyond: Albert (Winnsboro), Mike C (Augusta), Bruce (Sumter), Larry (Ridgeway), and Cyndy (Ridgeway). Albert is the winner of the AANR-Eastern Regions member whose office AANR-Eastern certificate will be awarded tomorrow by Regional Director Robin & Steven, Regional Webmaster. There is no news yet as to whether or not Travelites has been bestowed with the regional grant. We were told telephone calls will be made this week to all those who submitted applications.
Our next event will be Mardi Gras and Cajun Potluck supper in Hopkins, SC Feb. 9 followed by Valentines Festival on Feb. 16 in Ridgeway, SC at which well be enjoying a Breakfast for Dinner potluck and chocolate lava cakes for dessert.
