New Dermatologist
Return to DiscussionsI went to new dermatologist yesterday. An actual doctor -- rather than a physician's assistant -- and male.
As the nurse was leaving, she got out a gown and told me to put it on. I said, I'm not going to wear that. She said, OK, and put it back.
When the doctor walked in I was sitting on the exam table fully nude. He brought in a female assistant with him. Normally, doctors seem to be very careful about how wide they open the door, generally, just wide enough so they can get through it. Although this doctor didn't just throw it open, it was much wider than necessary. Of course, I don't care. I just thought that was interesting.
I'm sitting facing the door. He cannot miss the fact that I'm nude. Not a word from him or his female assistant regarding my nudity. Just another exam.
That's the way it should be.
In a way, you'd think this would be the norm at a dermatologist's office - more so than a regular doctor's office, especially these days - but it's probably not, for most people. Credit to the professionals, though, for not appearing to be phased by it.

The first dermatologist I went to let me know that she had "comfort level issues" with the human body. So, why the fuck are you a dermatologist. Wrote her a long letter (copy to her employer) about how absurd that was. Never went back to her.
But it should be the norm for almost any medical doctor -- but especially a dermatologist. Very pleased that the gave no indication that they thought anything was unusual.
As I've mentioned in other posts, my regular doctor told me that he's totally comfortable with nudity (he knows I'm a nudist). I'm nude every time he sees me whether there's any need for nudity or not. He REALLY doesn't care.
You're making their job easy and hopefully your exam went well. That's the important thing. The rest is just silliness.
Exam went well. Didn't find anything interesting. I do have a bunch of non-issue moles on my neck. They are slowly getting bigger and bigger and I don't like them. He froze them. Now they're really annoying -- but they'll be gone in a week. I've had it done before.

My dermatologist's assistant always told me to strip to my underwear, so that is what I did until I stopped wearing underwear. Then I wore a solid color swim brief under my shorts or pants. I told the doctor that I got sun where most people don't, so he pulled my underwear or swim brief down or out by section and checked inside. Eventually I asked him if he was comfortable with nude patients and he said it allowed for a more thorough examination so he would prefer it but didn't have the staff ask patients to strip nude because he knew it would make too many people uncomfortable. I've been nude for exams since. Should have asked sooner. Two exams ago, they stopped offering paper covers. I waited and dropped my shorts when the doctor arrived because I was concerned that if one of the female staff was in the hall, they might not want to see a nude male patient. He told me it wouldn't bother them so for my next appointment I just sat nude with no cover until he arrived.

I would think that if you were there for a specific complaint about something above the waist, a doctor would be surprised to find you nude!

He knows I'm a nudist. He knows I prefer to be nude. He told me specifically that if I want to be nude, that I can be nude -- he doesn't care. So, I am and he doesn't care.
I have many friends that are physicians. They say that the Medical Ethics Committee recommend these type of silly aprons to avoid people from suing them for sexual assault... Anything that may be considered not indispensable for the examination may be taken to court as abuse. While examining you skin for cancer, they won't do it in your private parts unless you request. I have some moles so I always ask.

I had a father son team stay here who were long distance biking. I list that I am a nudist in my profile and leave it up to the guests to
say if they would prefer to have me clothed. I do abide by their wishes. This duo and had not really addressed it one way or the other
and I overall kept my clothes on during their visit. But did streak thru the common areas a couple of times.
When they were packing up to leave, the father thanked me for not going nude around his college age son much. I pointed out
that his son was in a pre-med program and if he had an issue with nudity he had better get over it. The father said " you are correct"
