'' In many magazines photos of female bodies are altered -- our
brave volunteers shed it all to show that
any real body type is absolutely beautiful, Stein told
HuffPost.

We as an organization work to promote positive self-image in women, reminding them that nothing needs to
be nipped or tucked to feel or look beautiful. ''

''The biggest revelation were the female bottoms. Freed of ungainly clothes, pear-shaped behinds reigned supreme.
There were some skinny examples on show, but they looked pathetic compared to the magnificence of a rotund rear end.
In the clothed world, we're crushed by the tyranny of a physical ideal that is unachievable and unhealthy. In here, perfection was freakish.
Sometimes, we look at big people and presume they are lazy, greedy or lacking self-control.
I realised how easy it is to create a norm - in the case of body shape, entirely artificially - and make everyone who doesn't conform feel bad about themselves.''

''It's not an easy task to feel Right in a world that body-shames
and slut-shames and shame-shame-shames everyone into feeling
deeply,
inherently wrong. But I've always had very strong feelings about
natural, real-life nakedness. I think it's an epic travesty
that
our culture doesn't support it...

In high school, despite the fact that I grew up in a body-positive
and sex-positive household, I was so flooded with anxiety about
how ''wrong'' my natural body was, that I was completely unable to
relax. There were so much about myself I needed to hide, and to
distract from...

Women have become obsessed with ''fixing'' the endless ways in
which their bare faces and bodies are wrong, and we are constantly
aware
of the sexual performance that is expected of us. When we fail at
any of the above (and we constantly feel like we are failing),
there is shame... ''

With no use of Photoshop or any other light or camera tricks to
give any false illusions,
the women were pictured naked, fully comfortable and fully loving
their own unique bodies.
...
''When was the last time you saw an image of skin markings that
looked just like yours?
When was the last time you saw an image of breasts that looked just
like yours?
An ass that looked just like yours?
Scars that looked just like yours?
A belly that looked just like yours? ...

It's been a while since we've (or maybe we've never) seen our body
positively represented with that
overwhelming flood of images that fills our social media feeds,
televisions, and magazines.

I think it's time to change that.''

"Alves grew up with body-image issues and depression but found liberation in naturism.
I used to inflict self-harm," she says. "I would burn myself with an iron and cut myself
on the stomach because thats where I felt I had the extra fat. I also went through a lot of
depression relating to my self-image.

Ironically, Alves decided to shed her clothes when she was five months postpartum.

My whole outlook toward my body changed after I gave birth. I saw my body in a more
self-centered way. I saw that it had purpose. It could feed a child and
create a human. It made me love my body even more."

"Growing up, the message is always that you cover up certain parts
of the body, otherwise people will assume you're up for sex, so I think
that inhibits a lot of people, particularly women."

"Ive never been naturally slim, petite or delicate and always felt like I didnt quite
fit the cute, skinny, pretty girl box like the rest of my friends and that bothered me.

I always strived to look like someone I was never going to be. In naturism it is totally different."

"I always felt good nakedwhy couldn't I feel like that all the time?

I worked up the courage to try nudism as an act of confidence
and freedom, and started reading about the nudist world. After lots of
searching, I found a nudist group in my area that I thought I could try out.

So a few weeks after my birthday, I wore my birthday suit to that athletic club."
