I either wear khaki shorts or a kilt with a velcro or snap closure. I prefer the kilt because I use a sit-on-top and and I can launch clothed yet once away from the public eye I can undo the kilt and enjoy being naked yet can pull the front of the kilt across my lap in a hurry and even completely do it up if I need to. I need to replace my current kilt and plan on getting a khaki utility kilt when I get the chance. Whether or not I wear my PFD depends on where I am paddling and I am considering replacing it with one of the inflatable belt PFDs made for SUP paddlers since it will allow me to still enjoy my freedom while staying safe at the same time. I tend to skinny dip and snorkel from my kayak and the belt PFD wouldn't interfere with that.
