Bisexual or Hedonistic?
My wife has for years considered herself bisexual, while I have always just considered myself hedonistic. To me, bisexual means you are attracted to someone of the same sex. I have never found myself attracted to another man. I have, however, been sexually involved with other men. Every time it has happpened, it was when I was with a couple or in a group setting. To me, hedonistic is someone open to all pleasure during a sexual situation, whether it is with a man or a woman. It's about what feels good in the moment. I have never, and probably would never, be with a man1 on 1, but in the heat of the moment, If it feels good, do it. I'm just curious what others opinions are. For the record, I'm not opposed to the label of bisexual, I've just always looked at it differently.
I think the post describing Bisexual or Hedonistic is broadly right....BUT....whilst I adore women and love the female form,I can also find the male sensuality and simple sexuality of mutual pleasure very horny. Playing with men and women together is hedonistic and as a male who would and has played 1-1 and more with other males...does that mean I am bisexual.....in my opinion the labels are not important, hedonism is pleasure seeking and bisexuality is about enjoying sensuality and sexuality of both males and females alike wether you are male or female yourself.
I am a hedonistic Bisexual! :)

Very interesting topic! It would seem that the lines between bisexuality and hedonism are a bit blurred or maybe one is a subset of the other. Which beings up the question, that is the main interest and what is the subset? Or does it really matter as long as your desires are meet.

Whatever the meaning of "bisexual" , I use it to describe my willingness to have sex with another male. But for myself, I am not attracted to, nor do I want to "date"another male . My love and affection is still with the female !! IF I should be using another term for my sexuality then I'm open for comments.

This is where you and I differ. I am not turned on by other men generally speaking. I can appreciate another mans figure and find them attractive, but to me, it's the same way I would look at my mother or sister. I can see they are attractive and acknowledge that, but they do nothing for me sexually. I have never seen a man at a pool or a nudist club or even a mall, and thought "wow, he's hot, I'd love to blow him." I enjoy giving pleasure as well as receiving it. When involved with a couple, or a group, I'm open to jerking a guy off or giving him oral. But I have no interest in being with a man 1 on 1. I love being with women and I'm only turned on when there is a woman or women involved. That's just me. Which is why I struggle with how to define myself when someone asks me if I'm straight or bi. I have been with men orally, but by what I feel is the definition of bisexual, I'm not. My wife has told me numerous times that she is sexually turned on by other women. She could see herself having a relationship with a woman. That to me is bisexual. It's interesting to hear others thoughts on this.
I think that 'bisexual' is an overused and possibly antiquated term. Hedonism, to me, has a different connotation, one that is more of a flamboyant nature, a party person
Bisexual is a persons sexual orientation. It might be antiquated but it's accurate. When you look at the definition of hedonism, you will see that it is not about sexual orientation. Hedonists consider sexual pleasure as the higest and only goal, with no respect (or with complete disrespect) for the others people being used in providing their pleasure.
So in short, bisexual is a part of who you are, and hedonism is how you behave.
I agree with Dolixi, hedonism is about pleasure for pleasure sake whereas bisexuality is a pleasure that is attached to a gender appreciation that comes deeper within. And like any characteristic bisexuality has a scale with a broad range so it would difficult to bin everyone with a bisexual tendency into one bin. Whereas I think hedonism is easier to do that.
