My first time at Playalinda Beach
Hey Everyone! Sorry I don't post much on here, been busy with work and school. I wanted to mention I decided to finally give social nudity a try! I went to Playalinda beach in Cape Canaveral, FL this past Wednesday and Saturday! Both days were beautiful, and the people there were so awesome to talk to.Being overweight and extremely pale due to my irish skin, I was a bit self conscious at first. Especially since dropping my shorts in the sunlight for the first time would garner a reaction like "The beacons are lit! Gondor calls for aid!" hah! Still though, no one jabbed an insult or a disgusted look in my direction. The very opposite happened, actually. Everyone was very kind and for the first time in my life, I felt like I wasn't being judged because of my body.Because of this, I've gotten a lot more serious about diet and exercise. Not because I'm ashamed of my body, but rather out of self-respect and the respect that other naturists have given me. This has been a very life-changing experience.Naturists have made me care about myself again, and for this, I thank you all!
My understanding is that Playalinda has concurrent enforcement with Brevard County (seehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playalinda_Beach_(Florida)). Therefore nudity is actually illegal, but the law is unenforced. Or only enforced when the nudies encroach on the clothed.
Glad you had a great time. Playalinda was my first nude beach back in the late 90s. When I stepped over the walkway and saw all the nude people spread out on the beach, I knew I'd found my tribe. And I knew social nudity is a Good Thing.
Hmm well national park rangers have the ability to either enforce federal or local law, but it seriously does seem that they have zero interest in chasing out nude sunbathers. From what I saw with the parking lots, lots 10-13 were full whereas there were only one or two cars in the other lots. My guess is, if the beach suddenly was an enforced clothing-only venue, they would lose nearly 60% or more of the parks income. Unless people are doing lewd things or throwing trash on the beach, we're only doing good for the beach by being there, seeing as we pay to get in. I'm thinking of hitting up Sunny Sands resort next though as my next trip, seeing as it's only 60 miles south of St. Augustine compared to 130 miles south to Playalinda. I just need my Florida Young Naturists trial membership card to show up. Does anyone know if they're fairly single-friendly?
Ahhh that would make sense, in that case I'll still be sticking with lot 13. I don't mind crowds, in fact I'm a very social person lol so I'd rather be in the area where it's 5-10 feet between spots. That sort of ticks me off though to think that people would simply be venturing down the beach to expose themselves to the textiles. Exhibitionism does not help our cause at all.
