Tall People Problems
I am 6'3", and can't really say there are many disadvantages/problems with being tall with the exception of riding with a short person driving who has a bench seat in their vehicle. The seat is so far forward my knees are all up in the dashboard. I rarely ride with someone else though, so not really a major problem. I don't even remember when the last time I rode in the BACKSEAT.
Great Site... funny!
I have (almost) always thought being tall is an advantage, but there are some annoyances...
- Buying Shoes and Dress Shirts (I love paying twice the price at the big and tall store)
- Bathtubs (It's like sitting in a puddle)
- Small Cars (Ug!)
- Airplanes (Double Ug!)
- The good old "You can reach that, could you do this for me" (Which I really don't mind)
- Low hanging chandeliers (Clank/Rattle/Ouch!)
- While traveling in Europe I discovered many of the doors are only 6'4" openings, It only took walking into about half a dozen of those before I learned to duck!
They are problems I can live with but it is finding shirt sleeves and pants legs that are long enough, seating I can fit in on a plane (economy), and urinals that mounted so low which is a little more challenging to aim at. All small stuff really.
My biggest "tall person" problem is clothing. I have a 36 inch inseam. I usually have to get the longest possible and hope the pants ride a little low. With shirts, sleeves are never long enough. :/ Jackets, coats, by the time i get the right arm length there's room for another half person inside the coat.
I'm 6'7" or 200cm. Just about everything man made is an irritation if not a problem. It's all too small. On the other hand, when I get out into nature everything is just the right size. I called an Uber a while back and couldn't fit in the front or back seat. No head or leg room. You can request a roomier Uber but that costs extra. Cost is another thing. Finding clothes is hard enough, finding them on sale or a reasonable price is really tough. The list is long. Still, I really don't wish to be any shorter. I like being taller than most.
