What's your favorite wine?
We are a home divided. I'm a red wine drinker and she is a white or blush wine drinker. We live in an area where there is a wine valley and there are roughly 33 wineries out here. We love spending the day visiting at least 2 or 3 wineries, doing some tasting and we've joined a few wine clubs but are only down to one, currently.
I'm a Zin, Merlot, Cab Sauv kinda guy. She's a Rose', Riesling, Pinot Gregio, White Zin kinda gal.
:D
We've visited the Central Coast of California for many, many years. It was our plan to retire there but then ... grandchildren! Funny how they make you change your life! hahahahaha
We've visited a tiny bit of the Paso Robles region and with over 300 wineries to visit and taste from ... we'll have to break that up into multiple week long visits with our close friends from Colorado who also love wine and nudism! Too bad we can't find a winery that would allow us to visit, taste and tour naked!!! :D
Red Zin (fruity with hints of pepper), Cab/Shiraz/Malbec blends (well balanced), Bordeaux (these are earthy, so avoid them if you don't like that). Those are the top 3, but the list could be very long if I added everything we like.
Me; Sangiovese is my favorite nowadays but will never turn down a good Cab lol. On the white side Chard, I know, I know ABE. But I like it. Another favorite white is French Colombard.
My wife is partial to Merlot and French Colombard.
Neither of us like sweet wines except on rare occasions a dessert wine with a nice dessert course.
yes ... we do! :D
We have a couple of wineries out this way that make a White Merlot and both are really good. All of our favorite wineries are boutique wineries and thus, aren't widely known, don't sell their wines in markets, liquor stores or are found anywhere else but the winery. We love that their wines are exclusive to the valley but they do ship to anywhere in the country! ;-)
I only drink red and tend to like Shiraz or Shirah, then Cabernet and Merlot last. Cabernet for when it's cold. Not a huge fan of Merlot but have had some good ones. Not much of a fan of dry wines like my wife and she drinks white in the summer. I prefer California wines, she likes the French ones if there is a choice.
I think the best wine I've had was a $50 bottle of Caymus that we bought when we closed on our property. Didn't taste anything special when first opened but after allowing it to open was amazing. Of course my wife and I christened the property in more ways than one that day.:-)
