Has anyone seen the 1960's movie The Naked Prey?
Has anyone seen the 1960's movie The Naked Prey acted and directed by Cornel Wilde? If I knew about it I have forgotten and just recently discovered a few scenes and reviews online. It's about a white man forced to strip naked and be hunted by African tribesmen. I am kind of intrigued. It had some pretty good reviews too. I am also amazedthat he could get this movie made in the mid 1960s! Cornel Wilde was in his fifties when he made it and avery fit athletic man. Just as a total aside, he appeared in an episode of the 1950's television show I Love Lucythat I just saw by accident. In the show is playing himself, as a movie star and is being reclusive in a hotel room. We see him take off his shirt, displaying a very handsome bare naked chest and then he goes in to a bathroom to take a bath, leaving the door ajar. Comedy ensues with the understanding that he is nude in the bath (we don't see him of course...this is 1955 America), but the scene is played up as Lucille Ball is tempted to see him, but can't go in knowing he is nude. When I realized it was his idea to direct and act ten years later in The Naked Prey, totally nude most of the time, even it blurred and shot discreetly, I wondered if he was a practicing nudist. I may just go find the movie and view it out of curiosity, but I wonder if others know of it or have seen it.
I saw it and loved it!! I was riveted to the screen. Have you seen The Swimmer starring Burt Lancaster?? He does a nude swimming scene in the pool of an older couple who are nudists. In the movie he asks the couple if he can swim and they say "of course, but you know the rules" So he strips off his trunks and dives in... you really only see his butt, but it was a nice butt !! lol
I have seen The Swimmer and I really like it a lot. I remember seeing that scene when I was a boy. I'm kind of amazed they showed the naked butt scene on TV even though it is just a quick shot. But it is fun seeing him just pull the suit off and swim. I look forward to seeing the entire Naked Prey. it's interesting to me that Cornel Wilde was so passionate about making a movie about a naked man surviving in nature. The 60's were an interesting time for pushing envelopes.
