RE:Naked in Locker room

I go naked in the LR. It's not in an exhibitionist manner. After my workout, I walk naked to the shower. Don't want to wrap my towel around my sweaty body. I rinse off and head to the sauna. I don't want that towel to be wet so I hang it on the hook outside the sauna and sit on a hand towel within the sauna. Then shower, then back to locker, then dress. NBD. The longest time I spend naked in the LR is the sauna. My showers are typically about a minute or so.

Most people I see at the gym, even those who use lockers, do not shower. I did see one guy - only way - pull his underwear up under his towel. I really wanted to recite a quote from an old New York Times article that said something along the lines of "If you can't be naked around other men then you haven't grown up."

That sounds fantastic. Which gym is that? I wish we had one like that down here in Florida. I loved the Korean spas in NY/NJ. I used to go and spend hours there nude in the saunas and tubs.

Men seemingly dont grow up anymore. Always afraid. Ashamed. Phobic. We gotta lead the way to confidence through no-shame textile-free saunas showers locker rooms etc.

Nice assessment. The sooner the younger guys in a locker room can consider that nude older dude a friend and not a foe, the faster theyll see that we are all nude brothers without fear of any shame whatsoever. Public nude spaces shouldnt harbor cruising and corner sex. That creates an adverse space for camaraderie. Be being conversational and supportive, our little brothers will see that nude isnt awkward. Its inclusive.

What really blows my mind is these kids today have NO PROBLEM taking a pic of themself's naked and sending it to someone. I've heard of kids sending each other a pic to compare... Just do what we did in the good old days..... We saw each other in the school or gym shower or we skinny dipped at the lake... My buddy had a pool when we were growing up and we all swam nude all the time together in the pool

I love that quote...if you cannot be naked around other men, you've not grown up. This is crazy! Another man posted what I see...and thats the towel dance to put on and remove underwear...I literally laugh. Perhaps that's not the best solution, but I'm nude as men should be...it's no big deal. It's bloody LOCKER ROOM! It's where you change, piss, shit, shower, sauna, get dressed. It's a space meant to be like your home. These men do that at home? Freedom brothers. Masculinity brothers! We gotta remind the kids that is not correct..and that they will be embarrassed by themselves if they could see themselves!

Yes I agree with you and embrace nudity in the locker room. I also try, try, try to recognize that where there is shame, there is pain underneath. From the wet tiled floor up our legs, through our collective balls and torsos and radiating from our foreheads, let us silently affirm to our towel dancing bros:

You are complete and worth love and respect just the way you are with no need to hide your vulnerable beauty of nakedness with textiles.

Or maybe we can just say it as we glow: Dude, it's much easier to ditch the towel.

Totally agree! My father would be cross if I didn't change with everyone else. He'd say, you're a man si be proud of your body. Strangely, he forgot his own advice as he got older. But today's youth are rather funny when so scared someone might see something

Because young men are so afraid of even each other, we have many problems! They don't want to be seen nude because they fear judgement. They don't want to see nude because it may question their sexuality! They can't have a conversation about this because it questions their beliefs. They cannot meet other people in the real world because they have no self confidence. They cannot put down their phone because they may miss a text or a message from a fellow snowflake. They cannot understand they are normal because they have only porn as a comparison. They cannot seek genuine open and authentic relationships because they are worried about image.

BE proud! Find YOURSELF!

This is a very complicated and really more of a personal thing than to cast this as a problem with only one reason. Body shame is one of them, the individual could have been sexually abuse and is scared that someone looking at him will get ideas. I've read that some who have said that it was the way they were raised, especially by single female parent. In general females don't accept been nude as easy as men, the have to feel right about it and mothers pass that onto their children if there is no other view put forward. Sending pics is not as 'personal' as standing naked before a stranger. I'm not going to judge one individual's way of doing something to say he's wrong, but then we've gone from gang showers to personal showers with curtains. And lets not forget, as much as some say it doesn't happen, there are those individuals that will be inappropriate if they see something they 'like'.
