.......for reminding us of the spirit of giving. Regardless of our personal situations, there are always those less fortunate than we. While this is the season of giving, year round contributions to the local food banks are always in order. Now that winter is upon us in this part of the globe, gifts of warmth and food are more important than ever. Since I have no immediate neighbors in need, I use this time of year to contribute to the Salvation Army and others, which can distribute funds to the most needy.
A favorite charity of mine has always been the USMC Reserve Toys for Tots campaign. Each year when I contribute a toy to this program, I can almost visualize the joy in a poor child's eyes as they open a toy on Christmas morning. A toy which their parents could not buy because they needed the money to put food on the table.
If the day ever comes where we have a world of happy, well fed children, we may actually have Peace on Earth"
