A dew rag. You can dip it in water frequently and have a nice cool cover for your head.

have a straw hat with wide brim and a indiana jones type with the mesh to keep your head cool plus numberous baseball hat, not much of a hat person but the sun will tear you up, i like the dew rag idea but i have no problem dipping my hat in the water.
