How to be nude in the hospital?
Well, as luck would have it, I've been hospitalized for some pretty serious sudden ailments in the past 6 months. I have had to spend nearly a week admitted each time. As my membership in this group implies - I always sleep naked. Yet I have not had any success with thinking of a way to bring it up to the hospital staff in such a way where I would feel comfortable sleeping nude during my admittance. I don't want to come off as some pervert as a lot of the hospital staff is female. Does anyone have any advice? I mean those gowns don't leave anything to the imagination as it is - what would be the big deal of me not wearing it? Has anyone ever actually been in the hospital and slept nude - or even more during their stay?
Hi,
Been hospitalized a few times and never had any problems withe sleeping nude, just inform the staff that you prefer sleeping that way; if you wear shorts/t shirt during the day, just slip these off when settling down for the night so as you at least get some sleep- personally I cannot sleep wearing anything, and in warm weather that includes the bedclothes!!
Don't beat yourself up over it -just ask.
I don't think I would try to explain anything. Wandering the halls naked would be a problem. Pulling your clothes off to slip into the bed should not be. If you're concerned about being helped up and out of bed, keep a sarong handy to throw over your lap or to wrap around your waist. Surely, the hospital staff has seen it all before. If your bed isn't your private space, I don't know what is.
Why not just slip your arms out of the gown and go to sleep. If it gets "accidentally" lost in the bedding, well... gee... I've learned we think we need to explain ourselves WAY TOO MUCH! Acting stupid will get you FAR. "Oh, I'm sorry!" (oh hell no, I'm not sorry at all!) Get my drift?
In an emergency I was whisked into hospital naked (I'd drowned in a nude-only pool). There was absolutely no problem while I was in intensive care. One if the first things the (female) nurse did was to insert a catheter into my penis. And it made access to the drips and monitoring electrodes much easier. I was given one of those open back gowns after a week - when transferring from ICU to a medical ward. I had no problem slipping it off to sleep. Indeed the nurse had to lift it right up for some injections. As you say. They've seen it all before.
More recently my friend was admitted to hospital naked after a fall. I took his clothes in the following day just in time for his release.
