Iowa Sculpture Festival
I would like to encourage everyone to check out the Iowa Sculpture Festival In Newton. The festival will be the 2nd weekend in June. Google it to get the specific information and see photos of past festivals. It's a good place to see art and talk to the artists. Do you know of other places to see art in Iowa?
I have done some sculpting in the past and want to start doing more. The cost of materials is sort of prohibitive. Just clay ends up costing $50 for a shoe box size amount. Shipping costs are so high now days.The costs make you be far too careful. I want to find a local clay pit where I can dig clay in large quantities. I have my eye on a local defunct brick and tile company clay pit if I can figure out who owns it now days.
I would like to do lost wax casting. My favorite subject is the nude, but you really need a model to get things right and I never can find any out side of classes which are far too short.
