How do you spread the word?
I have kind of discovered I am an unofficial spokesperson for the nudist lifestyle. Everyone that knows me in real life knows that I'm a nudist. Casual acquaintances on FaceBook can tell I'm a nudist from seeing the multiple Likes I have for such pages as AANR and True Nudists. And, I even bring it up to people I am just meeting or random strangers on the street. For instance, today I was having a massage and explaining that my legs were in worse shape than they normally are. This lead the therapist to ask where I went hiking. "At a nudist resort across the border in Indiana", was my reply. She asked if I went alone, and when I said I did, her response was, "I could never hike in the woods alone. I'd be afraid I'd get lost." I told her that I liked that response and not her saying that she didn't think she could ever hike nude. I then went on to espouse the benefits of body acceptance, Vitamin D intake, and other such nudist values - while being sure to state it was NOT about sex and the like. Not wanting to make her uncomfortable since she had a job to do, I was not too pushy on the subject and did not talk about nudism during the entire session. But, it is just an example of how much I enjoy nudism to want to share nudism with others. If you take a bite of a particularly exquisite ice cream flavor, do you not later tell others how good it was and even recommend it to strangers in the grocery store? If we all love nudism under an internet pseudonym enough to brag about our time in the sun, shouldn't we step up in the real world to share the fun?
Subtle hints; I wear nudist related t shirts, resort shirts, our club's Car Show t shirt. I also wear a "Live Naked" wrist band. When the door is open for discussion or if someone asks me a question about the meaning on the t shirt or the wrist band ... I simply say, "we are nudists." They either want more information or they shy away from asking anymore. I was recently caught out in the backyard by our pool guy. I apologized but told him ... "this is the way we live. Is it going to be a problem?" He replied that it was not but that I just took him by surprise. I told him that I would NOT expose him to it intentionally ... BUT ... if came to clean the pool on a different day, he is most likely gonna find me naked in the backyard. At a local watering hole, I frequent, the young bartender noticed my "Live Naked" wrist band, asked me questions and to my surprise (we have become friends) said that she would like to visit the club with me or with us. A young woman working at Starbucks saw my Blacks Beach t shirt and asked about the beach. Since I go to this Starbucks regularly, we've talked about it more and more but she's not ventured down there yet. The postal clerk at our satellite PO saw my "Surf Naked" t shirt and smiled. She said, "that's cute, do you surf?" I said, "yes." She asked ... "like that?" I said "absolutely ... and live that way too!" She replied ... "sounds fun." My newmasseuse; she comes to the house to give me massages. She's older, a bit "new agey," and a hippy. She's always barefoot, wear tie dyed t shirts, long grey hair and never wears a bra. We've talked about a number of things and during our last session ... and I know this will be hard to believe ... but I was walking her to the door and my robe became "partially" undone. I closed it and apologized. She said ..." I've seen it all honey ... no worries and ... nice all over tan!" with a wink. Point is ... subtle hints work just as well as pontificating ... but I think most people are more receptive to subtle hints, more so than someone proclaiming their nudism so vocally. It's worked out very well for me and for us. :D
Very good points and examples. I have been wanting to get such T-shirts for exactly that reason - especially T-shirts that espouse the Christian viewpoint on being positive and not what most Christians would think, so that I could wear them to church and spread information to a group that should be supporting nudism rather than fighting it.
I have a story (true too) about a neighbor that I tell people to break the ice. The neighbor and wife retired and sold everything and went on the road with a 5th wheel but come back for grandkids in winter. we found out they got a spot in a RV park in Texas and when we asked them about it they told us all about it. Turns out its a nudist resort. (Observe reaction). Then proceed to tell them there are over 20 nudists resorts in TX and ask them if they have heard of the ones in FL? (listen to their comments) Ask them if thye have ever heard of the designated nude beaches on federal lands? I usually point out there are nude resorts in every state around us.
And I ask if they ever visited a nude beach on vacation. If it gets to a yes then ask why they have not look into a local club.

The one mistake you use here is that most c/o beaches are not on federal land, i.e., Haulover in FL, and those in Oregon are state run as is TX. Lighthouse in NY is not Federal. Gunnison is on Federal but may not be open or Lighthouse either for the 2013 year.
Playalinda and Apollo are tolerated areas rather than legal.
I often use the term skinnydip to see reaction since that has the connotation of innocence whereas nudism is often associated with "lifestylers" - one of my biggest sore spots. I've lots of nudist/naturist tshirts from AANR as well as Travelites. This last year, I even had a hoodie made for my club with "relax naturally with us" on it.
I think that I also quite diffuses Nudism, I have the advantage that my work has to do with it, (as many of you know I am public relations of the Nakedspa in Madrid, Spain). The case is it clear everytime they ask me at what job or we're talking about work, always commented it, ask me about my work (which for my is also a pleasure to) and hence about Nudism... and I have extensive and very interesting talks about it more than one friend or friend has tried Nudism by my and fewer people friend also

These are all great. We need more spokespeople!
