Gaviota beach west of Santa Barbara, CA

I ended up working out in Santa Barbara, CA yesterday, so I took a little side trip about 20 miles further out to check out Gaviota beach. Too bad the weather turned and it was not quite 60F, overcast, andwindy. I am pretty sure I was in the correct parking area next to the railroad track, I was at mile post 44. There were 4 other cars parked there. I took the short hike down to the water, but did not see anyone at all. Not too surprizing with the weather. The water felt even colder. The area I was at did not have much sand at all between the rocks and the water. Where is the "official" nude area from the parking area? I only had about 20 minutes on my break so I didn't have any time to do anything, but I wanted to see what it was like to know if I wanted to go here when the weather is nice and I have the time to spend. I would be interested in reading what anyone else has to say about Gaviota beach.
