Problems with Lion that are being addressed (My Recommendations to Apple)
Hi All,
Below is a list of problems and things Apple is forcing on us, I don't like some of the things that Apple is doing so I'm compiling a list of Items from myself and others and going to submit all of them at one time. If you are running Lion or Lion server and want me to submit the problems you see with Lion please send them to me at maui@fetchweb.com I will be sending them to Apple on Septmember 7, 2011
Also rumor has it hackers are going to hack Facebook on September 5, 2011 (just a heads up)
Thanks for your help,
Maui....
1.font face="Helvetica"Making the LIBRARY folder invisible under the Home directory served no one (not the Mac user and definitely not APPLE). This folder is needed as part of the recovery process on fixing misbehaving applications. We need to be able to find the Preferences and Applications folders that need to the LIBRARY folder to find them./font
2.font face="Helvetica"Taking away the ALL WINDOWS view of EXPOSE and replacing it with the Mission Control is mostly mission lost. Open 6 finder windows and then try to find the appropriate one you want. Stack all like windows on top of each other does NOT work. At least, bring back ALL WINDOWS as an option instead of Mission Control, which was a great means of getting back to a buried window. Mission Control is a big hit on productivity. Mission Control is NOT a valid upgrade to ALL WINDOWS./font
p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 18.0px Helvetica;"font size="1"Furthermore, most people do NOT use SPACES, which is where Mission Control might be of benefit./font

p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 18.0px Helvetica;"font size="1"3. Forcing all people into a Ipad email environment might be good for a few people, but it sorely disturbs the large email user. Your side by side windows really slow down searching for appropriate emails. With no Columns to click to produce a Sort has now been replaced by click on SORT BY, then selecting one of the options. Not only does this involve more mouse clicks to do the same thing as before, but you have now taken away from us which information columns we can see. The columns displayed are not options anymore. Furthermore, you can't display things like TO and FROM together on the same display of Emails in the side by side. The loss of being able to view multiple columns of information as a whole is lost. Under the new system you can sort on one of the column names but you cannot easily scan the other columns of information. Yes, you have a CLASSIC parameter, but for how long. It is plain and simple your direction is to this Ipad view in the long run. And the classic only modifies the top window, but still shows the threaded messages chains in the bottom windows which confuse older folks who just want to read/save/delete simple email. Just because you are trying to match the IOS concept (designed for small screens), does not mean that you should disable the large screen concept of OSX. This is dumbing down OSX to the IOS level. This just cheapens OSX, not enhancing it./font

Myself and a lot of users have invested time in putting colored icons into their most critical folders. These had the advantages of making these folders more readily visual for selection. Today, all of my user folders that I use in the sidebar have the same dull grey folder icon which slows down my ability to switch finder folders. We also changed the display icons of the Apple standard set such as Desktop, Applications, Utilities, Movies, etc. What is needed is the ability to color and change the icons for the sidebar. Let each user manifest their best working environment./font

Most users think that Whole screen is the only way to run applications and that they have to close the window before doing anything else. Computers can multitask and run multiple applications simultaneously, but whole screen strongly encourages one task at a time user. It has taken me a lot of time to break this single application mentality of previous PC user and make them realize it is OK to run multiple applications and to flip between application windows; this increases productivity. /font

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but the LIST view in Finder for the APPLICATIONS folder does NOT have sortable headers, nor can you change the column sizes. This is only seen as a problem on the APPLICATIONS folder and is not a problem on a finder window of any other folder. Why is APPLICATIONS treated differently./font
