Nudism in China
Truth be told, I am a home nudist here because even though China is opening up more and more, there is still a lot of fear and prejudice to foreigners. I have had a few girlfriends and did not even tell them, though they spent time with me at my home, I always judge their reaction to me being nude. Most the time, if I was out of the bed, they would actully bring me clothing to put on. It is not a very popular thing here, and as far as I know, there are not any resorts or beaches. Even if there are, I am pretty sure there would either be a seperate area for foreigners or they simply would not be allowed in.
I want everyone to realize, i am an Ex-pat. That's a person from another country living and working in another. I'm not Chinese, so to reveal my private life is a hard thing to do here. To add to that is cultural standards. They would not be able to accept a Nudist Male Teacher as anything other than a pervert or deviant. So I have to really be careful about to whom and why I reveal my private life.
A few years back, I had a lovely correspondence with a female newsreporter. There was an article about couples getting married in a "naturalist" setting. However, the writer meant naturist. It was a perfect opportunity to inform her. Part of the exchange ended up in the comments following the article that ended up online. I use the term skinnydip when trying to introduce the idea to those who might not be truly understanding of what genuine nudism/naturism is.

I thought this to be the case,but was uncertain. I viewed a few profiles from China to get this impression. It must be difficult to be a naturist at heart and livethere.
Most chinese are quite modest, and generally fairly conservative, so your impression appears to be correct. My wife is from mainland China and it did take some time for her to get used to me walking around unclothed (years), and then to be able to accompany me to nudist beaches (many years) - she still won't go completely nude, but I think she would be ok if we end up at a nudist resort like Cap d'Agde. I have been to China a number of times during my travels in the past 12 years and certainly there are almost no facilities for people like us. There was talk about setting up an area for this purpose, but that got canned quite quickly. Even in HK there was talk about it, but after a number of years nothing has come up. The best way is to find out and get together with like minded people - this is how HK goes about it, they go on boat trips to secluded islands, or walks in some areas of Lantau Island.

I had some hazy recollections of reading something about early nudism in Hong Kong, a search on the net confirmed my memories which turned up with a few pages and an image of an old newspaper item, which reads:
"Hong Kong's Sunbathing Association
Founded in 1932 as the Hong Kong Nudist Society by Mr. H.E. Lanepart, the Society adopted its new name (above) after the end of World War II and is an officially registered organization. Its main objects are the encouragement and practice of home life in the nude, in the open, in secluded places away from public view. It has an island in the waters of Hong Kong where most of its activities take place as the pictures (approved by its members) in this page portray.)
The original resort was in Tai Wai within the now Shatin area. Lanepart was something of a mystery, different sources cite him as either a Latvian, or an Australian of German descent, or Czechoslovakian. It never ended up as a great success, as members were believed to be all of continental European descent, without British or native Chinese members, at least at the first years.
