RE:Meditation in the nude, among Nature

Thank you, @homeclothesfree, for sharing such valuable insights and historical context. Its humbling to learn more about the roots of nude meditation and how it has been a core practice for so many ancient traditions. The wisdom of the gymnosophists, Jainists, and the Digambara truly reminds us that nude meditation is far from a new concept; rather, it's part of a long legacy that acknowledges our inherent connection to nature and our true selves.

Youre absolutely right about the tendency to focus outward in Western thought. As I've delved deeper into nude meditation, Ive found that while connecting with the natural world feels freeing, the real depth comes from grounding myself in the present moment and turning inward. Shedding external layers becomes a symbol of shedding the internal layersexpectations, judgments, and distractionsto simply be.

Ill certainly take your advice to heart and look further into the profound traditions that have shaped this practice. Understanding this deeper philosophy adds a whole new dimension to my journey and to the way I hope to share and evolve in naturism.

Thank you again for broadening my perspective!

RE:Meditation in the nude, among Nature

I admire your philosophy and efforts to present this in Naturis Sancta. It's a truth that's as self-evident as breathing.
From my Christian background I see two opposing schools of thought: dominionism and panentheism. Dominionism is the idea that man (or humanity) has dominion over all the Earth, as stated in Genesis. Panentheism is the belief that God's spirit is embedded in all nature. This reflects Jesus teachings that being a naked flower like the lilies of the valley is more beautiful than any clothes you can wear. It's not be confused with pantheism which states that nature is God. Unfortunately, panentheism seems to have faded in its relevance in US Christianity to its detriment, in my opinion. I recently discovered a small unmonitored half square mile square of riverside land with no parking or public access. Other than local teens who use it for dirt biking, it's an outdoor sanctuary less than 10 miles from one of the world's busiest airports. I use it for naked walking meditations and it's been a wonderful experience.

Thank you, @stoneandy, for your thoughtful reflections and for drawing those connections. I appreciate your insight into dominionism and panentheism, especially in the context of Christian thought. Panentheism aligns so beautifully with the philosophy of Naturis Sancta, where we see nature as a sacred space that we are part of, rather than something to dominate. The image of the lilies of the valley captures this idea perfectlya reminder that we are enough as we are, without embellishments, just as nature intended.

Your discovery of that riverside sanctuary sounds incrediblea hidden retreat in the midst of a bustling world. I can imagine how powerful and grounding it must feel to practice nude walking meditation there. Spaces like that, untouched and quietly existing outside the usual constraints, offer such an authentic connection to nature and ourselves.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Its inspiring to know that others are finding and creating their own sanctuaries in nature, where they can embrace this connection and the peacefulness it brings.

Stay nude, stay safe!
