Blind Creek Closed!
Got this from Treasure Coast Naturists.
We are sorry to report that the gates to Blind Creek Beach are again locked as of today, Tuesday 10/15/24. Apparently, they were opened on Saturday without authorization. The park remains closed until such time that the County can declare that it is safe for public use. Once that authorization occurs, the County will unlock the gates. The County hopes to have this done by the end of the week, but no promises.
As of 2pm today, the Sheriff's Department was removing people from the beach who had parked on A1A and walked in.
The County asks that beachgoers do not open the gate or damage the chain lock. They will reopen the gates when they've determined that it is safe to do so.
Thank you to everyone who came out over the weekend and assisted with the massive cleanup! Those efforts should go a long way in getting the beach reopened sooner than later.
We will continue to communicate with the County, and let you know as soon as we have an update.
I went to Blind Creek on Sunday. It was open although the trails were flooded and some covered in debris. The main path from the parking lot to the beach was clear. That was probably due to the clean up efforts of the volunteers. Thank you! Sunday was a beautiful beach day.
I returned to Blind Creek yesterday (Tuesday). The gate was closed. There were about 30 cars parked on the street. Apparently, they were walking around the barricades. I went up to Little Mud Creek (by the bridge) and entered there. Despite numerous signs saying it was NOT clothing optional, as soon as I got to the beach, everyone was nude. I asked one of the nudists if he knew why the gate was closed. He said the rumor was they have started bringing in the heavy equipment for the construction of the new bathrooms. I guess the planners wanted to wait till the snow birds returned and we were at the height of the season before starting construction (sarcasm). LOL
The County posted originally that the park was closed for safety. I think they would have loudly broadcast it if they were starting construction. I suspect its what they say it is, and its closed for cleanup. And I also regularly use Little Mud for nude use, as I think many of us do. Its nice to have fewer crowds.
The paving of the parking lot and building of the restrooms is scheduled for December. It kind of sucks that it will be done during the height of tourist season, but I can see why. I would not want to be working on hot asphalt on a 95 day. I thought they could do it working overnights with lights like they do on the highways, but I was told that they can't. Something to do with the Sea Turtles.
This will be one of those projects that is a major pain in the ass while it is being done, but well worth it when it is finished.
