Sleep Study
Had my first and hopefully last sleep study last night.
The nurse practitioner told me to bring a 2 piece pajama set to sleep in.
I did bring gym shorts and a tank top.
When it was time to get ready for bed, I told the male technician that was working with me what the nurse practitioner said, but that I never wore a shirt in bed and rarely wore shorts. He said there was no need for a shirt, but I did need to wear shorts or underwear.
I therefore wore shorts.
While it was less comfortable than being nude, I actually found the shorts less annoying than the wires and stickers.
I have always heard that they make you wear something to do a sleep study. But the engineer mind in me has always thought " if you are testing how a person sleeps, then it should replicate as much as possible your night to night habits, and forcing someone who sleeps nude to be clad is introducing a unnatural element into the equation"
A coworker's wife is a nurse and she did tell of a sleep study that the nurses had to measure the nocturnal erections of a male patient. My guess is that guy had to sleep nude.

Agreed, but at least in my case, the wires, which are necessary for the study were more disruptive to my sleep than the shorts.

Turns out I have a moderate amount of sleep apnea. Goi to try a new treatment instead of a CPAP machine.
I've had several sleep studies over the years. and yes you will most likely have another to see if what you had works. We didn't have a restroom in the rooms so we all had to traipse down the hall to the restrooms. I in my shorts and these women mostly didn't bring robes so they were mostly in their gowns. Nobody seemed concerned.

Found out that I have to use the CPAP for at least 2 months and have problems with it before I can be considered for the alternative treatment.
In the process of finding an in network provider now.
