The WNBR in Toronto is great fun. It is also a great cause. The object is to try and get the attention of politicians and citizens to highlight the horrible effects pollution has had on society. Much of this pollution comes from cars where there is little effort to try and curb the world wide increase in the use of the automobile. We design cities with the automobile in mind, not public transit and alternative non-polluting forms of transportation. Public transit is actually an after thought in all residential designs.
The reason the ride is naked is that the founder was probably a nudist. lol. I'm guessing on that one. The reason is two fold. Because there are many deaths and injuries cause by people and cars the idea is that if we're naked maybe motorist will actually manage to see us and avoid hitting us. The other is that if you're offended by our nudity you really need to put your priorities into perspective. Naked people don't cause any harm to others but pollution is ruining the entire world.
So, for those reasons and because it's a total blast I encourage members of this group who have already signed up to encourage others to join so that we can double the number of people in the Toronto WNBR.
