Taking the opportunity when it presents itself
I do try to plan geocaching trips where I think I might be able to be naked at least for some of the time. It can be difficult to be certain at the planning stage even with all the maps, aerial views and Google street view + panoramas available. Pictures posted by previous finders rarely give a good impression of the area with regard to whether it will be suitable for being naked or not, and then there's the weather...
So all too often I just have to settle for taking pot luck and not let myself be put off by believing a route is not suitable for a Naturist geocacher. (This is also why I'm not organising geocaching walks here on TN.)
Two such solo geocaching trips recently, were on 7th and 8th October, the first to get an Earth cache (and a few others) for Earth cache day and the second, to grab a couple of church micros in neighbouring villages. I hadn't really expected to spend anytime naked on either walk.
The first walk started over some open fields and then entered a long thin wood by the first cache (DNF!) through which most of the rest of the walk and caches were. The weather was fine and quite warm, so I really wanted to strip off, but dare not, as this was all very close to the large conurbation of Birmingham (Barr Beacon / Sutton Coldfield area to be precise). In the event, most of my time I was alone, but I did pass a few dog walkers and a pair of joggers, so probably best I didn't strip off. I found all the remaining caches though, including the Earth cache, of course, so not a bad day.
For the second walk, I parked near the first Church micro and found it. I then observed there was a farmer working in the field where the path went that I needed to use. Once past the farmer (having stopped for a chat) I entered a wood where there was a choice of paths to take; one very obviously less used than the other, so - of course I took that one! I was nearly in the next village before I felt the need to dress again and did so in an area where I suspected folk exercised their dogs, even though there was nobody there at the time. Second cache found, so now to return; there was a dog walker in that area, so I used the way out of it that had first got me there in order to retrace my steps. Only then did I strip off again and took a slight variation on my previous route that took me to a small lake that I circumnavigated before returning to my original route. At the edge of the wood I dressed once more, just before I would have come into the sight of the farmer, still working in his field. Another short chat (he was quite friendly) and I was back to my car. I'd had at least a couple of hours of naked walking and found two caches, so I'm going to count that as a success, I think.
Do any of you other Naturist geocachers find it works best this way?
