Mandavilla for privacy

We've been putting potted mandavilla on our deck up against some lattice that I put up every spring. They really flower nice and vine out beautifully making for a nice privacy wall. I don't know if it's a perenial or not as we treat it as an annnual here in our cold climate. It has never survived the winter.
We just get new plants from our local Home Depot every spring. Two potted plants ends up covering a 16 ' x 6' lattice making the only part of our deck that's exposed to neighbors' eyes nude friendly.
Anyone else plant these ?

I love the look of Mandavilla but from what I know of it is that it is poison to our furry doggie friends and having as many as 12 here at any one time I dare not plant it.

I don't blame you for not planting them. Protect those pups.

I used to do that years ago when we lived in the city and needed the privacy. You can overwinter it by cutting it back pretty severely and keeping it a little dry and in a bright spot through the cold months.
