Another rite of passage from country life...

If you live out in the sticks...the city trash pick-up doesn't stop by...at all! What to do with all the pieces of trees, shrubs and general stuff that must be disposed of? Folks out here know that you gather it up in a corner of the yard & burn it. That was my afternoon job yesterday. I posted a picture of yours truly in action...how about the rest of you? Anyone doing the same?

The picture of burned trash was the small pile in the side yard; the larger one is in the back and I am waiting for colder weather to burn it. We like to sit around our *bonfire* in the early evening with a glass of wine in hand and possibly light snacks and watch the trash pile disappear. It was about 35F this morning with a butt kicker northern wind, that means the next pile is soon to follow. But, I am also ready for Spring, this cold weather is for our northern brethren. We like our sunshine!! Warmer temps can return any time now.

A quick update on the large bonfire; the city dwelling grandchildren are visiting this weekend and have requested a country bonfire and smores. They live in a planned community (read no yard & tyrant HOA) so their bonfires are relegated to the Weber grill! Ours will be about 8 to 10 feet diameter& about 6+ feet high. I do have multiple dead trees that would make it huge but that is just too much. We will sit around, make smores & marshmallow mess; the kids will have a blast.
