Many would say separating shit from your outer gaerment via underwear is essential. It's not hard to understand, nudist or not. Others would want a layer protecting showing their junk through work attire. Come on!
Also, some older guys need underwear to hold their incontinence pads.

Ive pointed this out many times to the underpantless community many times on here.
Sadly, personal hygiene is not high on their priority list.
