Trip Report 7/9-13/2021
Hello All
We had a Fantastic Time! We arrived at the Page Airport about 10:am on Friday morning we had a 1/2 hour delay getting a taxi to the dry storage yard to pick up our truck and boat. Our next delay, our truck had a dead battery. Another hour delay to charge the truck. By the time the truck was running and boat was fueled it was about 1:pm. We still needed to stop at the grocery store for a few items and figured if there where no more delays we might be on the water by around 3:pm or later depending on what other surprises lay in store for us. Oh and the truck air conditioning that had recently been completely re-built lasted about 10 minutes growled loudly, smoked and quit working. So sitting in a truck with no air conditioning in 110 degrees, we decided to head for an air conditioned hotel room. On Saturday morning we started early and picked up the last few items from Walmart. Picked up the boat and headed to Antelope Marina to try out the valet boat launch service. We had to wait in line for about 90 minutes. In a truck with no air conditioning it was quite warm. However once we had worked to the front of the line things went fast and smooth. It was great! The launch driver hopped into our truck, we got in the boat and down to the water we went and away, up the lake. For $40, round trip, in and out, plus tipping the drivers I will do this from now on. Its a great service. Because of the receding water there is sticky, stinking mud instead of sandy beach. We tied the boat so we could step from the swim deck on to rock to avoid the mud. Our camp spot was great. The striper fishing was great. The trip was fantastic and a completely great get away. We came back to Antelope Marina on Monday and with a radio call 15 minutes later our truck was backing down the valet ramp to retrieve us. We took the boat back to the storage yard, stayed the night in a hotel and Tuesday morning dropped the truck off to have the air conditioning repaired for the next trip. With a taxi ride back to the airport and a quick flight to Phoenix and were home. A fun trip with a few surprises. We will post a few pictures. Oh and we were naked all the time from leaving the marina until our return except during the hottest part of the day. We had to wear shirts and keep them wet to stay cool. LP Boaters.
