Diagnosed without stripping down
I had blood in my urine earlier this week and it did not clear up on it's own. It got worse. So yesterday I went to the ER to get checked out. I have a very active imagination and self-diagnosed many things. The first thing they did was hand me a gown which I put took off my shirt and put on over my baggy shorts I had brought . They hooked up an IV and took some blood samples and waited until I could produce some urine. Oddly it was the first time in several hours that I did not feel the urge to pee. The doc came in and asked a few questions but never asked to inspect anything other then he listened to my breathing and checked my back for soreness. Finally I had to pee when I was in the room solo and I used the urine bottle they had provided and I called the nurse. She poured the required samples into a vials and sent them off to the lab. A short time later the doc came in and confirmed urinary tract infection. He ordered up some IV antibiotics and prescription which i picked up on the way home. He told me to take it easy for a day or so which I did. The urine is back to clear and other than worn out I feel normal. But it honestly surprised me that at no point did he check anything out down there . Just glad it was not any of the serious things that had run thru my mind.
I had three UTIs all within a year.
For the first two, they just asked me questions, took vitals, and had me piss into a cup -- no physical examination.
For the third one within a year, the doctor did complete a physical exam of my cock, bag, balls, and prostate. But only because it was the third UTI within a year. And, of course, I pissed into a cup.
All the best, hope you get well soon! It seems they are looking at biomarkers before they look at the anatomy. Saving time I guess. This was not the idea of molecular medicine to do molecular diagnostics instead of classical medicine. But it seems to work. I guess they found out that they don't need anatomy in the beginning.
Well, if they suspect that its a bacterial infection, of course there wouldnt be any actual physical examination needed. But if they suspect that its from your bladder, prostate etc, they may choose to put a tube into your penis to examine you.

Exactly. The urine test will show the bacteria right away. No need to send it to the lab. Nothing to look at, physically, Just treat the bacteria. Now, if it comes back, that's a different situation.
Ive had this happen twice in the past when Ive booked an appointment with my GP. Both times was expecting to strip and nothing. Just given advice and told to leave. First was for testicular pain and the other for haemorrhoids.
