3 levels of whiskey.

I noticed that I have 3 levels of whiskey. Mixing, every day, and special occasions. For mixing i like Bushmills. Every day sipping, Glenmorangie 12year. And special occasion, Johny walker blue. While I have a lot of other whiskies. Most of them are gifts. These are the 3 I like and will usually purchase. Do any of you find you have similar groupings?

I share your leveling of whiskeys. Everyday, good days, and special occasions. The more special the bottle, the longer it will last of course! If it is old enough to be on TN, it is in that special category. Glenmorangie 18-year and Jameson 18-year fit that category. I am a fan of the Glenmorangie 12 Quinta Ruban as well for that middle tier. May every drink you take bless your tongue!

I just try to limit myself to one whiskey brand. You do have a good approach. If I was going to be entertaining company I would probably get a bottle of Johnny Walker as well. Southern Comfort's taste is a bit too harsh for me.

I just recently tried Jonny Walker Blue. I just couldnt bring myself to spend that much on a blended scotch bottled at 40% ABV.
But I finally did and was blown away! Its a special occasion bottle for me now.

My daily mixer and sometimes neat is Naked Malt. Its a $30 bottle of blended single malts. Plus the name is awesome for a nudist.

My Friday unwind from the work week drink is Laphroaig or Highland park.

Not much of a whiskey drinker. Canadian or American yes ! So just wondering if it would be a good try. Everyone is making it sound delicious.
I do love the taste of whiskey on the rocks, at night, at home. Beer is so fattening ! But drinks around the pool is beer. But enjoying company, playing cards naked, ahhh thats a great night.

I have no idea how you guys drink Laphroaig. My nephew loves it but to me it tastes like an old campfire log soaked in iodine and wrapped in bandaids.
