Profile updates
I don't travel and my life doesn't change much, so I don't have a lot of the usual things to post. I'll put up a handful of pictures a year, even if they pretty much duplicate decade-old ones, mostly so it doesn't seem as if I'm hiding my age.
Is there a way for people to leave the site? May be the stale members just haven't found a way out?

You can delete your profile, but that will remove any postings you've made to the forums and I believe groups. It will not remove your pictures from the media server. Even deleting your pictures from your profile doesn't actually delete them from the media server. It only deletes the link from your profile to the picture.
The massive amount of dead profiles is from spammers creating profiles to upload porn, spam the forums and groups, and generally create chaos. There are also that come to take a look, some hoping for porn, some just interested in learning, but then leave to never come back. Multiple attempts have been made to get TN to do a purge, but it appears they are more interested in having a site with the most users, even if 85% if the "users" are dead accounts that haven't logged on in years, and most of those only logged on the one time when they joined.
Personally, I would rather have a small, active site. You can't claim it's about the money when all but a handful of the dead accounts are non-paid. They need to be purged.
