Being nude in a not very private backyard
We live in a suburban community of two storey houses where the neighbors have a clear view into each others backyards from their second storey windows. This clearly presents challenges being naked in the backyard as there is a very good chance that a neighbor would see you. Fortunately, our neighbors often have their second storey window blinds closed, so I am able to get out in our backyard for nude sunbathing and nude swimming from time to time, but I am vigilante in picking my times - weekdays are usually better then weekends. Notwithstanding, while I am not sure, I suspect I have been seen nude sunbathing or nude swimming once or twice as I have noticed on a couple of occasions while enjoying being nude in my backyard, that a second storey window blind that was closed when I first went out was later open while I was outside. I am curious what others experiences have been being surrounded by two storey houses with backyard overlook.
Fortunately my neighbors live in one story bungalows. Being seen from a second floor is not a bother. Could you just ask your neighbors if it bothers them to see you tanning/swimming naked in your (emphasis on YOUR) backyard.? They may surprise you and ask if they can join you.
I have a single story neighbor on one side. My two story neighbor on the other side peeked over the fence one morning to ask me about sharpening a mower blade, he saw more than he bargained for. Nothing was ever said, I sharpened his blade, and we're still friendly today.
Just this afternoon I was skinny dipping with some friends, nobody seemed to notice. Hopefully I'm the only one thinking about this, I suspect I am.
Most of us simply want to enjoy our yards as they are our private domain, our private escape, not that many of us are trying to shock or offend neighbours. That might be why your neighbours have not said anything, in similar stories on this site most neighbours have been fine, most seem be embarrassed if they say something to the nude neighbour. Enjoy your yard, be discrete and mindful but enjoy your private space.
We also live in a suburban housing tract. We picked this home for two reasons; it was single story and we only have one neighbor. We went to work immediately planting privacy screening landscaping to one side of the yard. There are two windows on the 2 story home next door that have a view of our backyard. It took a few years but we have completely privacy on the side. The surrounding homes are also 2 story and we're not sure how much they can see but we've had any complaints in almost 13 years.
It does take time and well thought out planting to create the private oasis most of us want. It's great if you can create multiple spots, one for morning coffee, one for late afternoon drinks etc. all while maybe being able to hear but not see the neighbours.
We are also in a suburban tract and our backyard is such that it borders five other homes, two story homes and three two story homes, Two of the two story homes have pretty much full view of our backyard and due to land slopes etc there are even a few windows on first floors and on the single story homes that have a pretty good view. Years ago we talked to the neighbors and let them know they may see more than one might expect and the responses we got were all along the lines of, okay, whatever. I go out every morning nude even often in winter and take care of our pool. During good weather Im often out sunning, swimming, doing landscape maintenance l8ke blowing leaves all the while nude, I dont even bother taking anything with me to cover up. In twenty years not a single comment or issue while I know Ive been seen and we a friendly with the neighbors and talk with ops e of them often.
