Amsterdam In The 70's

Moved to Amsterdam in Sep'70. Great music and great concerts at the Concert Gebouw. Actually met up with Pentangle at the Gebouw.
Whist living in the centre of Amsterdam, in Leidse Kroustraat, met up with Shane Fenton who was playing at the Blue Note just up the street. He came to live in my flat for a short while and was a really great bloke. His mate, Rory Storm also stayed a while. He was a DJ and had a terrible stutter, except when working.
Was a great time and many Americans came to stay in the VondelPark the summer of '71 until around September the police cleared everyone with water hoses. Think Ralph McTell was in one of the clubs for a few weeks in 1971?
Met a guy in De Tap from South Carolina called Ken McLamb who was a journalist fella. Great guy. Often wonder what happened to him.
BUT.... the music was some of the finest in the 60's and early 70's.
Many DJ's lived in the neighbourhood who worked on Radio Nordsee so there were always some party going on.
Got married there and some waiters from Dijker & Thyss got us a canal boat, loads of food and loads of beer and took a boatload to the wedding at the Town Hall and then round Amsterdam afterwards. Everyone was totally pissed once we returned to De Tap on the Prinsengracht.
Great days.
