Travel from St Louis area to Vegas

We will be leaving on January 16 and planning to stop a couple of nights along the way. We will travel Highway 44 and 40 to Vegas arriving the 18th. Staying in Vegas until January 24 when we will reverse the trip again stopping twice. Does anyone know some points of interest to stop at along the way. We like to enjoy the trip as much as the stay in Vegas.

Wow! Someone has been busy commenting on posts started several years ago. Some of the new posts are interesting compared to when the post started.
I am bumping this post because I would like some information. Just looking for interesting stops. It does not need to be nudist related. I post in this forum though because it could be nudist related.

There are many interesting places to stop on your way. I'd suggest pick up a book on traveling in that area.

There are many sights to see along old Route 66 and once you're out west there are many natural hot springs, some of which are clothing optional.

I love traveling in that part of the country and usually just drive until I see something that interests me and I'll stop. I'm also a photographer so I'm always stopping and taking photos.
Have fun and enjoy your trip.

There are a number of ways to look up entertaining stops along my travels. Buying a book is certainly one of them. During my travels, I have stopped at several places. Some were well worthwhile and others I wish I knew not to stop at. The advertising in travel books/websites are paid to make everything look wonderful.

RE:Travel from St Louis area to Vegas

We have completed our travel to Vegas. Our first day of travel was not terribly exciting.

Our first stop was at Oak Lake Trails nudist resort. We reserved a cabin for the night. It was a Thursday night, during the winter, we were not expecting lots of company to entertain us. We did find a small group playing a variation of dominoes. We talked with them for a while as they played. Then we went to the hot tub. That was fantastic! It is a large tub that could hold several people. We relaxed there for probably more than the recommended time. Hit the hot tub again in the morning before we left. Fully enjoyed the stay and will go back when the season is more appropriate.

The second day, after starting late leaving OLT, we did not get to make our usual tourist stop we like to make each day. We even did a typical travel lunch which was some fast food near our gas stop. We stopped for the night in Gallop NM. There is a hotel that we like just because it is very military friendly and it has a good hot tub. This time though, the hot tub closed at 9 pm. We checked in at 8:45. Oh well, the hot tub was out for that stop.

Day three took us the rest of the way into Vegas. On our travels we like to stop for lunch at a small town diner. We found one called road kill. There I ate an Elk burger. It was fantastic. My wife was not so adventurous, she had a club. There were other choices I might have been just as happy with like the bison burger. It was fun, the food was good, and the people were friendly. Then we stopped by the Hoover dam. We have been by there before but she likes water, the day was nice to go walking around and we needed a stop.

Now we are here in Vegas until Friday. We have some plans while we are here with some time to fill. Then we will travel the same route in reverse. Looking for other stops to entertain us on the way home.

Half way through our stay in Vegas. We have gotten out and about some nothing big yet. The main purpose for our travels has not gone well. I am in a bowling tournament and have not bowled well at all.

We have spent each evening in the hot tub at the resort. Yes, we had to wear swimsuits. It is only open until 11pm. The hot tub typically has other guests and we are not interested trying to strip off our suits even if the tub was empty. It has been nice just to be able to relax in our room before the events of the day get started. I enjoy making breakfast and drinking coffee each morning.

Two more days of bowling. Hopefully I will figure out why I am unable to bowl up to my capabilities. What I am looking forward to is the last couple of days after that when we will go to a show and enjoy Vegas a little more. Then start our return trip. She wants to stop at the South rim of the canyon. I would like to explore one of the National parks we pass on the way. Those will both on the first day of travels as we go back to Gallop NM. Maybe some photo opportunities at the national park even if it will be a little cold.

You might think about the 'Meteor Crater' near Winslow...it's a neat place. We went 30 years ago and saw several pieces of NASA equipment that were used for lunar rover practice. It's a good hike to the bottom but I thought worth it. I think the Petrified Forest is nearby but we didn't stop there. Good luck. John

Two days into our trip home. We did stop at the canyon on the first day. We had a good time there this time. Last time we stopped the canyon was full of fog and we could not see a thing. On the way in we stopped at one of the view points along the road. It turned out to have people frequently stopping at it. My wife knew I was looking for an opportunity to get some naked photos. She suggested that I hike down the ravine out of site. That was fun but it meant that I had to work with the timer for some photos. She was not interested in going.

The second day was uneventful. We thought about stopping at the meteor crater but with the extended stop at the canyon we needed to get a few miles today. I did want to drive naked but she was not comfortable at all. Better to keep the her happy as she is looking for more opportunities to get naked with me other than at home.

One good note. Sitting in the hot tub tonight, she did admit that there is something to not having to worry about cold wet bathing suits. It is so much easier to dry off without them.

We just added a day to our return trip. Stopping at Oak Lake Trails for another night. We got there just in time for a short hike. It was just warm enough for me. She wore a sweatshirt but thats all. It was a nice hike just before sunset. Now sitting in the club house cooking dinner. There are a few people here watching TV after eating dinner. They seem nice. We will visit the hot tub before heading to our cabin. The hike and the hot tub makes the stop worthwhile Tomorrow will be sunny and warm. We plan to stay at least until noon. Hopefully another hike and a trip or two to the hot tub before we leave.

We did take advantage of the morning at OLT. We started at the hot tub with a cup of coffee. Then we hiked another trail. The temps were in the 60s and the sun was warm. We thoroughly enjoyed the day. One more dip in the hot tub and we were on our way home. Back to reality.
