RE:The smooth feelingYes, baby oil spread very lightly over the area does help. Also, if you use a quality blade, not a throw-away it does make a difference. I use a 4 or 5 blade razor and never have any irritation. I use regular hand lotion as a shave cream which also protects the skin from irritation.

Most lotions contain alcohol, I found coconut oil is excellent.
