Overcoming Insecurities- Practice
Alright, one of the beginning steps of being a nudist would b
getting confrontable being in your own skin, so it would b easier to not
feel so self-conscience when the big day arrives that you step out onto
that beach or resort around all the others who are there. Since I know
I won't be able to drive all the way down to a beach or resort or even
have that amount of courage anything anytime soon, I was wondering if
there were places or areas I can "practice" so I'll be more comfrontable
when the day comes. I already walk around the housee in the nude when
I'm able to, considered the locker rooms at the gym, but do you guys
have any other suggestions? Like, finding some isolated area (granted I
live in a desert so that's not as easy lol) to relax in the nude or in a
community swimming pool late after hours, etc.
Oh, also, as a
bonus question, I found a group here who has naked yoga for men, and a
session for women as well (separate, eh) that meets every other
Sunday. Should I consider going to this as well? Should I feel safe
even though it's not one of the nudist or resort group and is more
privatized? It doesn't have that high a member list so it would most
likely be a small class.
Sorry about the length of the post, and
if any part needs clarification, tell me, alright? Thanks for reading,
your reply would be greatly appreciated lol
The more you know about nudism/naturism, and the more you can understand, the more confident you'll be in your quest for comfort. The following thesis is about the best work written about nudism/naturism and why we should be nude. It's lengthy, but it covers it all:

Before I made my first visit to a nudist resort I practiced by going around my home nude. My theory was that I could not be comfortable nude in front of other people if I was not comfortable with myself nude.
I now tell people that it sometimes takes a while to become comfortable nude in front of others. Sometimes itcan take as long as 15 minutes
Oh, once again, thank you all who took the time of responding. And yea, Connaught2010, it's possible I'm overthinking this whole thing lol. But yea, keeping the spirit in mind, may just do whatever, just as long as I'm having fun doing it lol. I just generally asked because I'm typically very self-conscience bout myself, to the point that I would vanish in a flash if anyone were to even see a glimpse of me even topless especially members of the opposite sex, so jumping from that to letting it all hang out is like a huge leap for me. lol Gotten used to the cam, so I suppose thats a good start lol. Oh, and I began reading some of the article you sent snugglebunny. I'll finish through it when I have a chance, but so far learning tons bout the misconceptions associated with nudity and how other cultures differ from the USA. Quite interesting indeed lol. Thank you all yet again and if I say thanks again, someone please stop me xD
One way of introducing yourself to public nudity is the old method of getting used to cold water when swimming. Just jump in. That was pretty much what I did and there has been no looking back.
BTW, real nudist men aren't afraid of cold water....LOL

No need to pressure yourself by thinking of a big day. just pick something you already enjoy, swimming, camping, bowling, anything. Being nude is just an enhancment to that activity, not an activity in itself. Find a way to do that activity nude by yourself or with a group. The real challenge is often finding a group that does your favorite activity nearby. Be careful, be legal, and have fun.
what ever u feel best at trying to get more comfy around others is the best way, sounds like you would like to try the yoga thing, go for it. keep hangin in the locker rooms as well. the more that your nude around others, the easier it gets. way to go with ur positive attitude.
