As you head N on LZ-1, at, I think, the fourth roundabout, make sure you don't go up the LZ-10 but go R following a brown sign for Jardin du Cactus.
Eventually on this rural section, there is a downhill bit with road noise, after which you split off to the R, again following brown signs for Jardin du Cactus.
You go through Guatiza and then past the Jardin du Cactus.
When you enter the village of Mala, the hospital is the first thing on the R, immediately after which you turn R by the Restaurante Don Quijote and follow this narrow road all the way to CdP.
It is well worth having a drive-through on Google Earth beforehand.

I assume that's 4 hours each way, from Stansted. The road from the airport to CdP is good, and takes about half an hour. The supermarket in the village is excellent. Let us know if Lily's and/or La Tunera are open for business after their refurbishments. If not, there's Le Jardin Tropical and Cueva Paloma.
I think you are a bit confused as Charco del Palo and Papagayo are two different places. CdP is the naturist village on the East coast of Lanzarote and Papagayo is the area down the far South of the island with several beaches at least two of which are clothing optional and used by many naturists There is no beach at CdP but you can walk naked along the cliff tops and access the sea from some steps or in a couple of enclosed seawater pools that fill and empty with the tide.
If people are looking for car hire on the island (a good idea as it gives you the freedom of seeing the rest of the island) we have been using Auto Reisen for many years and have found them hassle free and good value for money.

Yes that's right, plus 4 ten minute bus rides to/from the airport and a couple of hours or so hanging around the airports each way. So about 7 hours each way. Worth it to get warm and naked for 9 days.Let us know if Lily's and/or La Tunera are open for business after their refurbishments. If not, there's Le Jardin Tropical and Cueva Paloma.
I have had a message saying that Lili's is open from 17:00 each evening now, and this is reported on Wendy's Blog.

Arrived late yesterday. It seems good so far, in my birthday suit until it got cold this evening. The big natural swimming pool is fabulous, the weather almost perfect.
Got to to have a beer in Lili's this evening so that is definately open. Not busy but then it is Sunday evening, Lili, Carlos and a chef were there and there was steady trade at the bar and the tables. The background music was old rock songs, wonderful - took me straight back to when I ran a disco in the late sixties.
The Eurospar supermarket was good and a lovely lady called Sonia helped me lots. We get so used to what food looks like in Tesco that I had forget that not everywhere supplies vegetables to a formula.
The bad news was that I had rented through Inter Rent to avoid Gold Car but it turns out that Inter Rent is Gold Car, so the booking.com car rentals was somewhat annoying as it had cars from both Inter Rent and Gold Car! It took an hour to pick the car up because of the huge queue.
The other dissapointment was to find that the property wasn't expecting me, fortunately they had an apartment and accepted that I had booked. This is the first time I have used AirBnB - coukd be the last.

It's good to hear that Lillys is open at last. I hope they are not so silly as to ban nudes as their predecessor did. I've always booked through Chalfont Holidays (A specialist naturist tour operator and British Naturism's sponsor). I asked Lili about being there naked and she seemed to think it a bit strange. "We open at 5pm". Meaning it is too cold to be naked then!. In essence you can be in the outside bar naked but she thinks it is too cold after 6pm. So she is not so silly as to say no, but maybe it is only silly Englishmen who would want to (this is my interpretation not her words).
