Carrizo gorge. (East of San Diego)
Got a hike scheduled for march 14, a Wednesday. Looking to meet at the trail from Dr anza resort about 930. Hike goes to the largest wooded trestle that is arched. I think this is a 3 mile out before turning back.
For those that care, Dr anza has day use (cost) when returned that can include pools, hot tub, and spa to help recuperate before leaving.
The day could have been better. overcast on the coast, rainy and clouds across the hills, breaking into partial sunlight.
dropped the wife off moved a few blocks and dropped the shorts. Made for a great drive. seeing the breaking clouds by De Anza was encouraging. Checked in so I could come back and use the jaccuzzi when done.. Started hiking and the weather continued to change back and forth, Sunny to misty, to misty and windy. I planned this day for a while so I continued on. Met a couple. the guy semi covered his eyes and the girl said hello. I asked how far they hiked, but they replied "they no understand." continued to the first set of train cars, did a quick look, then continued. walked through two tunnels and some small trestles. As I was approaching the second set of train cars, mother nature's guard force decided to have a representative. A rattlesnake was resting in the middle of the tracks. Looked about 5 feet long. Snakes can jump half the size. As the trail was not that wide at this part, I could not pass safely. With my bad aim I tried to encourage the snake to move, but it did not. I decided to go back and enjoy the jaccuzzi time. On the way back I decided to fully check out the first trains cars. As I approached I heard others inside. I walked up, said hello and got a friendly hello back. 3 guys were checking it out also. Check it out for about 45 minutes? then continued to De Anza. Had a good day. Bare from 810 am to about 630 pm. Had to eat and go to a meeting. This is still on my list to complete.
