I'm moving to Kansas soon! What's out there?

Hey ya'll!
So, currently, I'm living overseas due to husband being MIL. Our next station is in Kansas, so I was wanting to get a feel for the place via like-minded individuals who already live there. Are there any clubs, resorts, retreats, etc. in your area that you recommend? I've tried to look up some via internet, but I'm also curious if there's such a thing as smaller establishments that perhaps don't have a website (spas, saunas, lakes, etc.).
Should all go well, I'll be moving there within two months, so any tips and/or advice would be much appreciated. I'm also looking to make friends if possible, though preferably of the female and couple variety (sorry fellers, but I can't have my husband getting the wrong idea).
