Work outs for older Nudists
I have a question for the general group. I'm in my 60's and looking to maintain my over all fitness. I'm looking for a program that will provide me with just that. But how do I go about achieving my aim? Since November I've been walking/running 5 miles a day without fail, but I haven't been going much weight training since it takes an hour or more to achieve that 5 mile distance. So, I was thinking of cutting back my aerobics and doing 2 days of weights with only 2 days of aerobics and 1 day of stretching and balance exercises then taking 2 days off for resting. But I'm not sure that will be enough. I've been able to lower and maintain my weight and don't want to gain any more. So, I'm open to suggestions. I've always been fairly healthy and active growing up and don't want to loose too much to old age. Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi, this is probably the right time to start using weights. Although you're not going to end up a Mr Universe, you do need to keep up muscle mass. Think of it as body sculpting and not body building. I'm 63 and have been using weights most of my life, but the amount on the bar has been going down.
Avoid fad diets and exercise fashions; I tend to use the systems favoured by the military for various reasons. They have a wide group of people to work with, who have different goals for fitness levels and they recognise that some of the base material they have to work with isn't always in the best shape to begin with.
The best advice I've been given is to pick a sport to train for, rather than blindly exercising without an objective. The two links below may seem like an extreme choice, but the advice is sound and you only have to adjust the programmes to suit your body. I train for judo and work with anything up to 20-25kg for upper body and 25kg plus for legs, if that's anything to go by.

The main thing is to listen to your body, move towards a higher protein intake and you may find you need more rest than before.
