First timers to Haulover on April 22nd

We will be staying the weekend in Miami and visiting Haulover on April 22nd. First time for both before we set sail on a cruise on the 23rd. Looking forward to some sun after record rainfall for February and March in Portland, OR. Is it safe to go in the water? Any other tips or suggestions?
