Well It's Another New Year / New Fishing Season in SWFL
First of all I'd like to Welcome all the new people to the group and wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year. I encourage everyone to make a post and let the rest know how fishing is going in your area. Photos would be nice also.
That being said, fishing in SW FL, Naples to Goodland has been fantastic when you can get out to fish between cold fronts. Lots of Greater Amberjack on the big structures and seems to be Red Grouper everywhere. The deeper you go the bigger they get. But, they only need to be 20 inches to have a nice dinner. Snapper of all kinds are biting. Yellowtail, mangrove, vermillion are all plentiful along with large Porgys up to 7 pounds. Kingfish are around but seem to be spotty as they are here one day and gone the next. Get near big structure and be ready for big Barracuda.
Hoping to get out soon but there is another cold front arriving very soon. Last one produced 10/13 foot waves. I'm sure the cooled the water off a few degrees so we will have to start over and seen whats biting.
Tight Lines and Good Luck
