Barefootin and size
Recently I was fortunate enough to enter a semi-retired state. (Now working from home.) No more restrictive and corporately acceptable shoes. Barefoot a whole, whole lot! Almost always. And *NAKED* while working! Love it. LOL. So to the point... my feet are becoming wider and longer! Never expected that. Im rethinking some of my shoe choices now and trying to keep my feet free. Anyone else experienced this in foot size change?
I started going barefoot about 10 years ago. I noticed a long time ago that my toes had spread apart and no longer curve inwards. Cant say that my feet got any longer, just wider.
Now, Im just shoe adverse.............and I now believe that women's Stiletto heeled shoes are torture devices.....
Most mainstream shoes are torture devices designed to cripple your feet. Only a fraction of shoe manufacturers have foot friendly wear. Xero Shoes, Vivobarefoot (to name two) are making good stuff. There are a few others if you search for them but of course the best is barefoot or TOTALLY bare in every way.
I also noticed that standing barefoot for a long time, the feet seem wider, for a normal matter of natural posture. Footwear prevents the feet from having their natural shape, so I think it's normal that being almost always barefoot, the foot relaxes, and you have the distinct sensation that it becomes wider, especially the toes.

Exactly so: staying for a long time barefoot, feet become wider but not longer. And staying barefoot also prevents hallux valgus.

Being barefoot does not make your feet wide. If they do widen after you stop wearing shoes, it's because you've been cramming them into shoes that are too narrow.
My mom grew up barefoot and she always had trouble finding shoes narrow enough for her feet.
I also grew up barefoot and have trouble finding shoes that are narrow enough. It's genetics, not the lack of footwear.

If I have to wear foot covering my choices are flip flops Xero or Birkenstocks with no socks in that order. Honestly dont understand the socks with sandals thing
