Unexpectedly Finding People You Know

One of the things that non-nudist and non-naturist friends ask me about visiting nude locales is, What if someone you know sees you there?

I always tell them that since they are there too, there isnt a chance that they are going to make much hay of it.

When I used to go to the sweat lodge, I met several people I knew from elsewhere there, including a co-worker and an old schoolmate. Given the nature of that community, I was never surprised by who these people were.

Since Ive been frequenting our local nude resort, Ive run across three people I knew from elsewhere. Two of them were a bit of a surprise. One was a local TV personality. Ive since friended her on Facebook but never quite told her where I met her. I havent come up with a way to bring it up. Another was a former state senator. We recognized each other immediately and had a long chat.

The third was a surprise, not for me but for her, and it shouldnt have been. I was walking out of the restaurant and she approached me. Hi! Are you surprised to see me here? I was, but only because it had been years since Id seen her around. As we chatted, she kept going on about how I must be so surprised to see her naked. I had to remind her that we had met at the sweat lodge, and she was naked when we first met years before. We also dated a few times. She apparently forgot about all of this.

I hoped I would have made more of an impact.

To the contrary, I actually hope to run into somebody I know. My wife and I are still very new to naturism and haven't "come out" about it yet. It would be nice to have friends to talk to about it and go places with. P.S. You're in danger of lowering my opinion of you when you admit to hanging out with politicians :)

Oh, dont get me wrong, I have no problem meeting folks I know from elsewhere. Its kind of refreshing, actually. I am a bit closeted because there might be problems at the day job. The reason why I bring it up is that the last person who will make a stink about seeing me naked somewhere is the person who was also naked there, right?

Despite my day job worries, one of the people I go to the local nude spot with is a co-worker. Go figure.

By the way, has this happened yet?

RE:Unexpectedly Finding People You Know

twice it has happened at Turtle Lake Nudist Resort near Kalamazoo MI. the first time it was my nearest neighbors ( 1/5 mile up the road) an old couple who pretty much keep to themselves. but it did explain why he was not shocked when i had greeted him nude the year before when he stopped by. We don't socialize they pretty much keep to themselves in their retirement home and are now in their 90s.

The second time i was in the conversation pool after the 5k run/walk soaking away the soreness. One young man said his name in relation to wondering what his students would think if they knew he had done a nude race. It clicked I knew the young man's dad and casually knew him thru seeing him preform when he was in a high school play. I mentioned to him our connection and assured him that I would not go back home and blab, but added that if he wanted to tell folks he met me at a nudist resort that was fine with me.

Everyone around me knows I'm a nudist so they wouldn't be surprised to come across me naked. I did meet a work mate and his wife at Charco del Palo. I was naked, they were not.

When the sweat lodge was still open, I ran across several people I knew from other parts of my life: a professor, a guy I went to junior high with and a girl I had a minor crush on a decade before.

One day, I went there and I found myself in the lodge with a guy I went to high school with and a guy that went to the high school before I went there. The high school was not officially affiliated with a religion, but the headmaster was an Episcopal priest.

The three of us sat around laughing about meeting each other while naked. What would everyone at the school think. In unison we said, what would the reverend think? We laughed some more.

I went up to Tanque Verde Falls a few years ago, our unofficial nude spot. I ran across a guy up there that I recognized as a singer from church. I introduced myself and he seemed really put out that someone from church saw him. The fact that I was running around naked too didnt seem to matter. I felt bad and thought I should have left him alone.

Last night I met a friend I only knew from the nudist club I go to. I was at the bowling alley. She came by to talk to one of the guys on my team. I knew that I knew her but I could not place from where I knew her. When she told me we just laughed. Kind of fun to know we have a mutual friend.

That reminds me of a story. We used to have a nudist community in town called the Sweatlodge. I met a woman there, but only introduced myself. Sometime over the following week, she ended up meeting my twin brother and thought it was me and didnt understand why this person didnt know who she was. She said Dont you recognize me with my clothes on?

It ended up being a good laugh next time we saw each other. We went on a few dates even.

She said Dont you recognize me with my clothes on?

If a woman I didn't know asked me that, I think I would tell her, "Well, take your clothes off and let's see if that helps jog my memory".
